New Oral Hygiene Instruction Treat Your Mouth” Predicted to Prevent Oral Disease in Children. ‘Brush Your Teeth” Contributes to Oral Disease and Should be Banished.

Dr Pettit believes the ideal oral hygiene instruction to give children to prevent oral disease is ‘Treat Your Mouth with mouth paste and a mouth treater. Treat Your Mouth” was created following 5 years observing children misinterpreting an oral hygiene instruction but dramatically preventing oral disease. ‘Treat Your Mouth” will prevent oral disease in all age groups, not just childrens. Dr Pettit believes the current childrens oral disease crisis in countries across the world will not be resolved if children continue to be instructed to ‘Brush Your Teeth to prevent oral disease. ‘Brush Your Teeth is a flawed oral hygiene instruction and contributes to oral disease in children and in adults. New Oral Hygiene Instruction Set to Prevent Oral Disease in Children

Dr. Garth D Pettit is a second-time retired dentist. Instead of the golf courses he chose to follow his passion to be a full time oral healthcare educator to help children to prevent oral disease. He passionately believes he knows how to prevent oral disease in children.

    Rostrevor, South Australia

(PRWEB) November 8, 2004 — Dr. Garth D Pettit is a second-time retired dentist. Instead of the golf courses he chose to follow his passion to be a full time oral healthcare educator to help children to prevent oral disease. He passionately believes he knows how to prevent oral disease in children. The ’secret weapon he believes he has in his armoury to prevent oral disease in children is his new oral hygiene instruction ‘Treat Your Mouth. ‘Brush Your Teeth, he claims in his recently launched web blog site ‘Prevent Oral Disease in Children, is flawed and even contributes to oral disease in children. He believes ‘The Colgate-Palmolive and American Dental Association October 1, 2004 Launch of ‘Save The World from Cavities Campaign to Prevent Tooth Decay in Children will also fail in its objective if it too has been based on the oral hygiene instruction ‘Brush Your Teeth. From 1997 to 2002 Dr Pettit was responsible for the annual screening (recording decayed, missing and filled teeth) at several remote community schools. Rampant tooth decay was the norm for most children in all schools. One school was regularly different. In this school there was a dramatic reduction in the incidence of childrens oral disease but only in the children in two particular classrooms. The two teachers of these classrooms provided their students with a wholesome breakfast each morning. Following breakfast each student was given a tooth brush on which the teachers placed some tooth paste. The teachers then instructed the children to ‘brush your teeth and rinse and rinse your brush under the tap. Then the first lesson of the day began. (more…)

What Readers Say About STOP THE ROT Stop Telling Children “Brush Your Teeth”

What readers say about ‘Stop The Rot! Stop Telling Children Brush Your Teeth’……

‘As a semi retired itinerant Dentist for the last two years I have worked in many practices in four States.  I am yet to find a practice which educates people in the correct use of the so called “tooth” brush.  A private dentist would have to charge about $150 to give the full story on how to use this brush – most people wouldn’t pay it so they don’t ‘get’ it.  This book has it all.  Read it.  Spread the Word – teach yourself, your kids and your parents.
    Richard Conn BDSc

Reading this outstanding book taught me how to ‘treat my whole mouth’ which I should have done since I received my first toothbrush. It teaches you so many lessons that everyone should learn. Dr Garth Pettit showed me in person how to do this and reading this book is even better!!

QLD Griffith University Student, Thea J. de Leon

I am the mother of two children aged 11 and 14 years. When I started reading this book, initially I was horrified. Do not tell my children to brush their teeth?

After I read this book I was totally awed. Wow this book is amazing. It made me realize that go brush your teeth doesn’t mean anything. Education is the key. This book makes you open your eyes and realize that there is more to oral health care. I hope now after reading this book I can now educate my children and then they can educate their children. I now know that oral health care is more than just brushing your teeth. This book is fantastic and a wonderful insight into looking after my teeth and my children’s teeth and my grand children’s teeth.

Lisa Dawes, Mother of 2 children.

The quotations above have been taken from the Back Cover of the book titled: STOP THE ROT Stop Telling Children “Brush Your Teeth”.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Australian Dentist advocates change from “Brush Your Teeth” to “Treat Your Whole Mouth

    New York , N.Y. —May 2008

Oral health education traditionally relies on the old adage “brush your teeth” to maintain good oral health. Oral health educator Dr. Garth Pettit says that by raising children to just brush their teeth has not yet proved to eliminate preventable oral diseases. He maintains that it’s this instruction that has created the high demand for dental services whereas if people were taught from an early age to care for their entire mouth there would be less need for those dreaded visits.

For more than fifteen years, Dr. Pettit has advocated new oral hygiene instruction for children that involves a fully comprehensive program for treating the whole mouth. Instructions for brushing your teeth have been around since the 15th century yet there has been to prove that brushing alone can completely eliminate easily preventable oral diseases.

Based on his research, Dr. Pettit has created what he calls Mouthwise Oral Hygiene instruction “Treat Your Whole Mouth” to help everyone become self-motivated to prevent oral diseases. Sensational Smiles: Simple Advice 4 Your Smile 2 Shine From Teenage to Old Age is filled with pithy quotes, photos, and easy-to-understand information about caring for your mouth. He gives detailed instruction on how to correctly use toothpaste to clean your mouth and also offers up the latest facts on fluoride, mouthwash, flossing and electric toothbrushes along with essential data about the effects of certain foods and sugar on your smile.

Dr. Garth Pettit was raised and educated in South Australia. He was in private dental practice in Australia and the UK before retiring. Since his retirment he has been tirelessly researching oral healthcare. He has discovered the shocking lack of updated educational resources available in treating preventable oral diseases, particularly pertaining to children and teenagers. He continues to advocate better mouthcare for people of every age. For more information go to: http://www.mouthwiselife.com/
